News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Mon. Aug. 4, 2014: Twenty-six-year-old Trinidad-born rapper, Trinidad James, has been dropped by his label, Def Jam Recordings.

The rapper Tweeted the news on Emancipation Day, August 1st.

“I should tell yall. I got dropped by the Label. My Album is now free. If u hear ur beat or verse on it. I hope u want dap cuz i got no money,” he wrote.

James, born Nicholas Williams, was signed to the label on December 2012. His debut single, “All Gold Everything” charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and R&B/Hip-Hop charts.

It wass taken from his debut mix-tape, Don’t Be S.A.F.E.(Sensitive as Fuck Everyday), which was originally released July 31, 2012 and officially re-released along with the “All Gold Everything” music video on October 16, 2012.

In January, Def Jam Records released his breakthrough debut mixtape Don’t Be S.A.F.E to iTunes, which included the official remix of All Gold Everything featuring fellow Atlanta rappers T.I, Young Jeezy & 2 Chainz.

On August 6, 2013, he announced he would be releasing his second mix-tape ‘10 PC Mild’ on August 13, 2013. After months of not releasing the tape, James Tweeted the news of his being dropped by DefJam.
