News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Sat. July 26, 2014: Conscious reggae music came to Central Park today and like a Piped Piper, it drew thousands to the SummerStage as new phenom, Chronixx, led the bill along with veteran singer Junior Reid and the Roots band.
The area at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park was jammed with some 5,000 while thousands more tried to get in – all for a chance to see the men brought to the stage by LargeUp & Federation Sound.
And Chronixx, born Jamar Rolando McNaughton Jr, did not disappoint as he treated music fans to hits like “Here Come Trouble” and “They Don’t Know.” The fans sang and danced along with many waving Jamaican flags as the Jamaican Diaspora in New York and the tri-state area were truly represented.
SummerStage was on of the stops on the Chronixx The ” Dread & Terrible ” World Tour that began on March 27th in Amsterdam, Holland.
SummerStage, a free series of summer concerts organized by Okayplayer’s has been held at Central Park since 1986 and has featured top reggae acts such as the Marleys, Israel Vibration, Inner Circle and Steel Pulse.
