News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Sept. 28, 2012: So Paul says to Mitt thank you for making me your VP choice now hand me my knife please and turn around.
Likewise, for GOP star Tim Pawlenty, who resigned as co- chair of the Romney – Romney campaign. Ouch. Those love affairs was certainly short lived as the rats abandon the sinking ship The Bad Ship Romney.
In Ryan’s case, it happened when the Republican Vice Presidential candidate appeared before the AARP convention last week otherwise known as the American Association of Retired People and Ryan told the Truth.
The last place in the world he should have told the Truth. If you remember just weeks ago at the amusing Republican National Convention Ryan left any sane person rolling in laughter claiming he is the champion of Medicare when his number one goal in Congress is to eliminate it.
Why, why in heaven’s name or Mitt Romney’s would Ryan go to the AARP convention of all places and tell the Truth.
Why would he pick the most flammable place in the country to throw gasoline and light the Medicare match? Why? Because still 6 weeks before Election Day the rats have already begun to abandon the Romney ship. Likewise, would be former short list VP candidate Tim Pawlenty quit as the co-chair of the Romney-Rooney campaign just weeks before election day.
Why? Because he wants to put as much distance between himself and Romney as possible so he can deny any blame for the Republican loss. Who me? Not me! I left the campaign at the end of September. So why did the media make so little of both stories?
Because they are doing all they can to try and make us believe there is still a Presidential race worth covering.
Why? Because the number one imperative of the media is its own interest naturally, to get as many viewers and in a few cases sell as many papers as possible. Remember papers.
If Obama – Romney is still undecided it works as another big sports event to keep everyone’s interest. What had been clear to some of us weeks ago even months ago that there is no way for Romney to get elected President short of a miracle – was becoming clear to everyone by last week.
Ryan and Pawlenty for sure but millions upon millions more. So the media “campaign” to try and keep this race alive began by giving little coverage to Ryan’s AARP speech and Pawlenty’s resignation from the campaign.
Far more, we have been inundated by stories telling us how close the election really is even though it doesn’t appear that way to any rationale individual or even worse in the polls. Let’s not forget the real polls. The state by state polls!
You can still get some credible national polls that allege Obama is only a percentage point or two ahead of Romney. Even if you assume they are true and the ones that show Obama 6 or more points ahead nationally aren’t – who cares? Let me say it again, this is not a national election. It is a 50 state + DC election. Electoral College votes decide who becomes President. Not the national vote.
Romney for example cannot win, not on this planet, not in this dimension of time and space if he loses Florida or Ohio. Well Romney is getting slaughtered in the polls in Florida and Ohio. Obama would have to give up his U.S. citizenship and move to Iran to lose Florida or Ohio.
How about Wisconsin Paul Ryan’s home state? Hey with Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney’s VP, that would win him Wisconsin right? Wrong. The polls had Obama a whopping 13% ahead of Romney in Wisconsin before Romney picked Ryan and guess what? Obama is still 13% ahead now after Mitt Romney picked Paul Ryan for his running mate.
This election is over but the media can’t afford $$$ to say so while guys like Ryan and Pawlenty try to put as much distance between themselves and Romney as the can without being too obvious about it they think. Ryan by saying what he really means to protect his Tea Party credentials before an audience he doesn’t care about and he will never win over no matter how bad that is for Romney.
Pawlenty gives it to Romney by resigning as co-chair of his campaign committee because he just can’t wait for even a few weeks to take some obscure position far away from this campaign even though he could do both if he wanted.
So the media will keep hyping this non-campaign but as I recommended many Commentaries ago, what you will see more and more clearly in the coming days and weeks obviously and subtlety will be Republican candidates for Governor, U.S. Senate and Congress distancing themselves from Romney and mentioning his name less and less or not at all. Abandoning a sinking ship as any ‘good’ rat will do.
You will see all that Republican money flowing away from Romney and into individual races in state after state to insure the Republicans maintain control of the U.S. House of Representatives and try desperately to win the U.S. Senate which looked so likely previously but less and less so with Romney-Ryan at the head of their Ticket.
And on Thursday we got an unexpected signal of how bad things are for Mitt Ryan from an unexpected source and which no one else in the clueless media noticed at all.
Obama hater Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of all people stood in front of the largest stage on Earth the United Nations General Assembly to offer faint praise of – yes Barack Obama! But more to the point, declaring in effect that Israel won’t think about bombing Iran until next spring and unleashing chaos in the Middle East instead of doing so in October to try and create big trouble for Barack Obama weeks or days before the election here to assist Romney.
So where do we stand right now?
With Mitt Romney and the media praying as hard as they can that somehow Mitt Romney will overwhelm Barack Obama in next week’s first debate because that is the only miracle he has left to pray for and the media more desperate than ever to keep Americans interested.
So if you are looking for Mitt Romney or the media the best place to go checking is in churches and synagogues.
If you‘re looking for Ryan or Pawlenty you will find them in the water with a growing number of rats swimming as fast as they can away from The Bad Romney Ship.
