News Americas, FLUSHING, NY, Fri. Sept. 11, 2015: It was a September 11th shocker that rippled around the world and out of the Arthur Ashe Stadium Friday afternoon.

Serena Williams the world’s number one, was bested by surprise semifinalist Roberta Vinci 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. The Vinci win ended Williams’ 33-match winning streak at Grand Slam tournaments.

Williams’s run came to a stunning end as the 32-year-old underdog beat her in what she later called “an incredible moment.”

“How disappointed are you?” was the first question at Williams’s postmatch news conference.

“I don’t want to talk about how disappointing it is for me,” Williams said. “If you have any other questions, I’m open for that.”

She also complimented Vinci, saying, “I think she played literally out of her mind.” Williams rejected the idea that she was under a lot of pressure.

Now instead of Williams playing for a Grand Slam in tomorrow’s final, it will be an all-Italian affair between Vinci and 26th-seeded Flavia Pennetta, who beat No. 2 Simona Halep, 6-1, 6-3, in another upset earlier Friday.
