News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Nov. 15, 2019: It’s almost Christmas and to many Caribbean immigrants and nationals, that means it’s almost Black Cake Season. But while the baking of the cake is still a few weeks off, if you haven’t done so yet, you still have time to set the fruits that will make your cake wow this holiday season. Here’s how you can do this easily and simply, this weekend.
INGREDIENTS
Buy…
1-pound pitted prunes
1-pound raisins
1-pound dried currants
1-pound dried cherries, deseeded
4 ounces mixed dried citrus peel
2 cups red wine
1 quart dark rum
METHOD
Combine all the dried ingredients into a large, air-tight container, preferably a big glass jar.
Add in the wine and rum.
Stir to combine and set aside until you are ready to bake your black cake.
