News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Aug. 9, 2013: The state of the Caribbean’s tourism sector for the period 2012-2013 will be put in the spotlight when the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) hosts its annual State of the Industry Conference (SOTIC) conference in Martinique this October.
The Caribbean’s premier gathering on tourism development issues is set for October 15-18th under the theme, “Perfecting The Experience. Delivering Authenticity.”
CTO chairman and Commissioner of tourism of the U.S. Virgin Islands, Beverly Nicholson-Doty, explained that this theme will allow delegates this year to explore a range of elements that are critical to the development and success of tourism in the Caribbean, including training and education, service quality, standards, visitor satisfaction, and community involvement.
“We also expect to deal with matters such as customs and immigration, airport and seaport facilities, taxis, attractions and more, in the understanding that the vacation experience doesn’t begin and end at accommodations,” Nicholson-Doty said.
SOTIC will be the first major CTO event hosted by Martinique, and Commissioner Karine Roy-Camille said the French-speaking island will be a proud host.
“We consider hosting the State of the Industry Conference a great honor and we are extremely proud of it. We look forward to welcoming the press and delegates to the Isle of Flowers in October for a taste of our special brand of French-Creole warmth and hospitality,” she said.
