News Americas, LAS VEGAS, Nevada, Mon. Dec. 21, 2015: Comedian and television host Steve Harvey last night stole the thunder from the rightful Miss Universe 2015 winner. Not only did the American celebrity get the winner wrong and had to correct himself before billions around the world,  but his own apology on Twitter got the winner’s country wrong as well!

Steve Harvey, who hosted the 2015 Miss Universe pageant from Las Vegas on Sunday stunned the world and almost shut down the Internet after he had to apologize for naming the wrong Miss Universe winner.

Instead of Miss Philippines being named the winner, Harvey announced that Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez was the pageant’s winner. After poor Miss Colombia was crowned and ready to take her victory walk, Harvey stunned everyone as he announced he had made a mistake and the actual winner was Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

The shocking end to the pageant which for the first time is now Donald Trump-less, left the South American beauty Gutierrez  stripped of the US$300,000 crown and Miss Philippines being crowned the winner instead.

Harvey instantly became the butt of many jokes on Twitter but the mistakes did not stop there.

Harvey who was active on Twitter all evening, then made his second huge mistake of the night – this time in his Twitter apology, referring to Miss Philippines as “Miss Philippians.” and mistakenly spelling Colombia as “Columbia.”

“I want to apologize emphatically to Miss Philippians and Miss Columbia. This was a terribly honest human mistake and I am so regretful,” Harvey tweeted.

Harvey later deleted the Tweet and tweeted an apology with the spelling of both countries corrected with the Tweet: “I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible.”

He also added an apology to the viewers: “Secondly, I’d like to apologize to the viewers at that I disappointed as well. Again it was an honest mistake.”

And this about the pageant  and the contestants: “I don’t want to take away from this amazing night and pageant. As well as the wonderful contestants. They were all amazing.”

It was the worst mistake in TV awards show history and followed by the second mistake on Twitter it is likely that Harvey’s pageant hosting days may be over for good. Not to mention that Harvey is now famous around the globe for not being able to read and spell!
