News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. June 29, 2018: Brazil’s 2-0 victory over Serbia on Wednesday greatly boosted its supporters’ confidence over the country’s bid for the 2018 FIFA World Cup championship.
Many Brazilian companies gave employees more flexible hours to work when Brazil’s last group match began. Streets in Sao Paulo were packed with fans who were seen cheering for their team’s victory.
“The match was quite intense. This is also the style of the chief coach Tite. 0-0, 1-0, or 2:0 at most [as there is not always lopsided result.] Brazil is always Brazil. We will win a sixth World Cup champion,” said Diego, a Sao Paulo mall worker.
Brazil secured the top spot in Group E, and will face Mexico in the knockout stage on July 2 in the Russian city of Samara.
Fans in Sao Paulo believe that their team can make its way to the final from the knockout bracket’s “half of death.”
“It’s not easy, really not easy. But I’m full of confidence and optimistic about the team. I wish that Brazil can make it to the finals on July 15. The World Cup champion is ours,” said Raiama, a reporter.
Celebrations lasted across the city’s blocks. (SOURCE: CCTV)
