Nov. 27, 2013: Tessanne Chin, the ‘Hideaway’ artist who spent years as a backup singer and opening act, is now through to the Top Six of NBC’s The Voice, giving her more global publicity than she has had her entire life and giving a lift to reggae music on the ITunes charts.
Chin on Tuesday night was the fourth contestant to advance to the Top Six after her Monday night rendition of No Doubt’s ‘Underneath It All.’
She along with the entire team of Adam Levine was saved by America on a night when she soared to the top of the ITunes reggae chart.
The first artist saved was Will Champlin following his Etta James performance Monday night. James Wolpert, also of Team Adam was the fifth artist saved by America.
Cole Vosbury of Team Blake was the second pick while Team Christina’s Jacquie Lee was third.
Then it was down to Twitter vote for Matthew Schuler, Ray Boudreaux and Caroline Pennell with America’s tweets saving Schuler and leaving Boudreaux and Pennell in the cold.
It also means Coach Ceelo Green now has no contestants left in the competition.
The Voice opened Tuesday night with a performance of Burn by Ellie Gouling along with Champlin, Schuler and Wolpert.
It also included a performance by the top eight on ‘Will The Circle Be Unbroken,’ backed by Starbucks choir and One Republic’s ‘Too Late To Apologize.’ Ceelo also performed on the show.
