Ahead of kick-off, Caribbean roots Emmy-winning star Sheryl Lee Ralph, whose mother was born in Jamaica, will be singing the Black national anthem “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
Then as the teams take the field, two Caribbean roots players are scheduled to be part of the Philadelphia Eagles team. They are St. Croix, USVI-born defensive tackle Linval Joseph and Puerto Rico roots Robert Quinn, 32, a defensive end.
And the most anticipated event – the half-time show – will feature another Caribbean national – billionaire, singer, actress and entrepreneur, Rihanna, who was born in Barbados to a Guyanese mother and Bajan father.

“Representing for immigrants, representing for my country, Barbados, representing for black women everywhere. That’s really important, that’s key for people to see the possibilities. And I’m honored to be here, and I’m honored to be doing this, this year,” the award-winning star told Apple Music Thursday.
People claiming West Indian or Caribbean ancestry are estimated at 3,549,627 according to the latest U.S. Census American Community Survey data from 2020, News Americas has found. The total includes 250,977 people claiming Guyanese ancestry since Guyana is part of the Caribbean Community.
