News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. July 20, 2018: Cricket fans get ready – the West indies is coming to the U.S. with a major match against Bangladesh this August.
The Windies will take on the visiting Asian team in the second and third of a Twenty20 Internationals three-match series at Central Broward Regional Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida from August 4th-5th.
The West Indies recently defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in their recent two-Test home series. They are also favorites for the three One Day Internationals and T20s, based on the firepower in their ranks.
Among their big guns are captain and all-rounder Jason Holder; explosive opening batsman Chris Gayle, and recently recalled Jamaican all-rounder, Andre Russell.
It is the first time Bangladesh will be playing in South Florida. The Bangladeshi team is captained by classy all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and their bowling coach is former Jamaica and West Indies fast-bowler, Courtney Walsh.
The matches complete Bangladesh’s tour of the Caribbean and North America.
“Both matches are scheduled for the weekend and will be played under the lights,” CWI chief executive Johnny Grave told Reuters recently. “Our intention is to work with ICC Americas members, USA Cricket & Cricket Canada in partnership to establish cricket as a popular sport from North to South America.”
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, July 18th, Cricket West Indies announced Betway, one of the world’s leading betting and gaming companies, as their official betting partner. The partnership officially launched during the iPay International Homes Series between the WINDIES and Bangladesh ready for the forthcoming ODIs and IT20s.
