News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Thurs. June 7, 2018: No Caribbean athletes made the list, but three Latin American sports stars are among the Top 15 Highest Paid Athletes in the world, according to the latest Forbes list.
In the top spot for Latin American athletes is Argentinean soccer star, Lionel Messi. Messi, 30, is the second highest paid athlete in the world with earnings put at US $111 million.
In the number two spot for Latin American sports stars is Neymar. The 26-year-old Brazilian soccer star was listed as the fifth highest paid athlete in the world with total earnings of US $90 million.
And coming in at three for Latin American sports stars is Canelo Alvarez. The 27-year-old Guadalajara, Mexico boxer is listed as the 15th highest paid athlete in the world with earnings of US $44.5 million.
