News Americas, SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico, Fri. Aug. 17, 2018: At least one Caribbean island is taking the business of weed seriously, announcing an online portal to help streamline licenses and registration.
Puerto Rico is moving ahead with its push into the medical marijuana sector with Gov. Ricardo Rosselló’s office, announcing the platform, licenciacannabis.salud.gov.pr to especially help patients who benefit from the Medicinal Cannabis Program.
The governor recently was quoted as saying in Argentina that the “most recent statistical data indicate that 32,276 patients in Puerto Rico are using medical cannabis as an option for medical treatment.”
“Given this, we have created this tool with the purpose of facilitating a more effective access for both doctors and patients and that the community in general can benefit,” he was quoted by Caribbean Business as saying.
The website is managed by the Health Department’s Medicinal Cannabis Regulatory Board and can be used by patients to provide their medical recommendation and documentation to receive certification, “which could result in a greater number of beneficiaries.
