News Americas, BROOKLYN, NY, Weds. Sept. 26, 2018: The Caribbean region’s lone female prime minister will make her first official visit to New York City today as she gears up to address the UN and meet with Diaspora nationals.
Barbados’ new Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley, is in NYC and will this evening meet with Barbadians in Brooklyn. The Bajan Diaspora meet and greet is set for 7 p.m. this evening, Sept. 26, 2018 at The Friends Of Crown Heights, 671 Prospect Place, Brooklyn between Bedford and Franklyn Avenues.
PM Mottley will deliver her first address as PM to the UN General Assembly on Friday, Sept. 28th. She is also set to address the General Assembly’s Third High-Level Meeting on the Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) tomorrow, Sept. 27th.
Mottley’s visit comes on the heels of her government naming Robyn Rihanna Fenty an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary by the Barbados government.
Mottley has said said the government was honored to be able to confer the title on the outstanding Barbadian, who has contributed significantly to raising the island’s profile across the world.
