News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. May 4, 2012: Top Jamaican athletes, including, 2011 100-m World Champion, Yohan Blake, will clash with their American counterparts at the adidas Grand Prix in New York City this June.
The June 9th event, according to organizers, will see Blake joining a line-up that also includes fellow Jamaican stars, Sherone Simpson, the 2008 Olympic silver medalist at 100 meters and 2004 Olympic gold medalist in the 4×100-meter relay; and Jermaine Gonzales, 2011 World Championships bronze medalist in the 4×400-meter relay.
The Jamaican runners are set to face a tough field of American athletes including Jason Richardson, Jesse Williams, Aries Merritt, Carmelita Jeter and Sanya Richards-Ross
The adidas Grand Prix will begin at 1 p.m. June 9 at Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island. The sixth stop on the international Samsung Diamond League circuit, it is also part of the Visa Championship Series.
