News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Sept. 2, 2016: Travelers to the Caribbean are forecast to be spending more this year according to latest data from the World Travel & Tourism Council, a global organization of travel industry executives promoting travel and tourism worldwide.

According to WTTC research, leisure travel spending (inbound and domestic) is expected to grow to USD 37.7 billion across the Caribbean this year. That’s a 2.4 percent increase. By 2026, leisure spending could reach USD 53 billion or and a 3.5 spike.

The business travel market spending is expected to grow to USD4.4bn or some 2.8 percent this year. By 2026, that is forecast to spike to USD 5.9bn or a rise by 3.1 percent.

Meanwhile, domestic travel within the Caribbean is also forecast to grow to USD 11.6bn this year and rise to USD15.3bn in 2026 and  the direct contribution of Travel & Tourism to GDP is forecast to rise by 2.4 percent this year and by 3.4 percent by 2026.
