News Americas, PANAMA CITY, Panama, Fri. July 8, 2011: The tallest building in Latin America is now a reality, thanks to Donald Trump.
The real estate mogul opened The Trump Ocean Club, a 70-story luxury resort built at a cost of $430 million in Panama this week.
The sail-shaped structure stands at 932 feet and is a resort and residential address. The cheapest room will cost $300 per night and homes at the Club will sell for $250,000 to $1 million. It was designed by designed by Colombian architecture firm Arias Serna Saravia and has 47 suites, 37 elevators, a spa, marina, casino and an island with a private beach.
It also boasts a 900-square-meter terrace with an oceanfront pool, personalized butler service and a convention center stretched across 4,200 square meters. It is the first Trump project outside of the United States.
“I want to thank Donald Trump for coming to Panama to invest in Panama and Panamanians for this opportunity to host one of the most important and beautiful buildings,” said President Ricardo Martinelli.
His comments came just months after Trump provoked the ire of politicians in Panama by declaring that the United States “stupidly” handed the country its inter-oceanic canal.
