It’s so, so easy just to be TOUGH.
Everyone will submit to the Trumpster and buy his Fools Gold.
We’ve got a big problem when a so-called President believes in Cave Man Diplomacy. He thinks the other Thugs will bow to his might.
They might for a while; while they plan their response but then the game explodes in our face and all we are left with is Crazy Donald Trump.
Sound scary? Well hello! It is.
Trump’s fantasy for making America great again.
The worst is yet to come if Trump does not fall on his face. The same base that won him the Electoral College can do it again if all Trump has to face in 2020 is yet another tired Democratic career politician.
The so called “greatness” Donald Trump has in mind for America has nothing to do with making a better America for all or improving the world. It’s all about out GOONING the world’s other GOONS, not out smarting them; and finding other GOONS like the so called Saudi princes “royal” (sic) goons as allies and assorted other thugs.
A truly GOONEY world order with President Trump as Goon #1.
It is all so easy, except that it isn’t. We have experienced this kind of “world order” over and over again since the beginning of Human Time. And here is how it always ends up – with repression and WAR.
Why is that? Because the Bad Guys and the Good Guys are all BAD Guys in that kind of world where military intimidation is at the core of policy making and alliances are based on thuggery, not principle.
In that world, Trump’s world, America’s so-called influence is based on just military might like Ancient Rome or Nazi Germany – not as a bright, shiny progressive capitalist democracy guiding the rest of the world.
In other words, I am proclaiming President Donald Trump morally BANKRUPT as President, just as many of his companies have been, and his personal life is.
Ripping up the Iran deal to please the Right Wing, the Saudis and Benjamin Netanyahu is not leadership. It is a simplistic response to international complexity predicated on the IDIOTIC world view that the United States can get its way by military intimidation.
That other nations and their governments are aggressive, repressive or not, and their citizens accept a world in which the United States dictates terms to them or they suffer the consequences of Muscle Man Donald Trump.
Donald Trump is either stupid or naive or both, and willing to do anything to get attention off his many indiscretions and very questionable dealings and bogus relationships before and during his Presidency.
All Trump is going to accomplish with his stupidly muscular foreign policy pronouncements is an even more dangerous and expensive arms race and give China and Russia more reason to be even more belligerent in forming and advancing counter-alliances.
We’ll see if North Korea will bend over to Trump’s demands or if China will let them. Bringing them to the table is worthwhile if it leads to positive results. If not, what is Trump’s strategy? Is it war? We’ll find out.
The even larger issue is what is Trump’s vision for America? It is military might and little else. Don’t buy it. We need so much better.
Will we end up with Donald Trump’s Lesser America?
Or leave Trump behind for a much Greater America?
The big problem is right now Democrats have nothing else to offer.
As King Lear so knowingly said: “Nothing will come of nothing.”
