News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Nov. 16, 2018: Yes, indeed it was inspiring to be satirical about it, if not bitingly cynical … watching all those eager new members of Congress on TV, House and Senate both, arriving in Washington, D.C this week for “orientation.”
So, so much like freshwomen and freshmen beginning college and just as giddy.
In fact, it seems that’s what they thought too from their expressions.
In this case – all the Democrats – women, men, young, older, Black, White, Latino, Asian, Native, Catholic. Jewish, Protestant, Muslim, Other. They all shared a common goal – to CHANGE the world for the better for all of us.
They will be different than all the earlier generations of Fresh Members of Congress. They are children of the 21st century and they know better.
We’ve all been there, seen that – it is the same every two years since 1789. And the results are predictably similar. It all turns out to be much, much less. Guaranteed it will once again. How do I know????
All I have to do is listen to their own words, made worse by the very nature of the very institution they are about to join. Allow me to explain.
You should know this already – except for our always present group amnesia.
HERE IS THE GOOD NEWS for them and all the rest of us!
There is a CURE it is called REAL change – as unlikely as it is. Here in Trump’s America, episode after episode, you learn the truth, not the BS that CNN and Fox News to name just two, feed us all the time. Yes, I could name some of my media “partners,” but I will be discreet. Call it all what it is – FAKE news!
The cure is as simple as it is so unlikely, since the enemy of the cure is built into the very fabric of society and just keeps getting worse. It is the POWER of the Status Quo and the 1% plus, who benefit so, so much from it, even if it ultimately will destroy them … but that is “tomorrow” – now it’s PARTY time!
It does not matter if they are Republicans or Democrats, Conservatives or Liberals, young or old their defining identity as members of the ELITES.
Elites defined by wealth, power, privilege. Some enjoy all three. Others two, but just one is enough to make them worship at the Altar of the Status Quo.
The Status Quo is where the Elites get the power they manufacture.
What are all these eager NEW Democratic Members discussing? Doing the same predictable list: 1) make sure Americans with pre-existing medical conditions can get medical insurance, (hello they already can), 2) pass infrastructure funding legislation, (when is the last time you heard that? all the time!), 3) of course investigate Donald Trump.
WOW, how impressive!
NOT!
Their agenda is BS. NO real change at all. It’s the ‘we’re not Donald Trump’ agenda. It amounts to nothing. But it is much worse than that because Congress itself is institutionally corrupt, ruled by seniority and money.
So, the few new Members who have any new ideas will be crushed by the system anyway. If they get elected at least 4 or 5 times on the House side, and 2 or more times on the Senate side, then they will have the necessary seniority to have some power in these halls of Congress by which time they will be fully committed to the Status Quo that their seniority is based on.
The REAL deal is none of them, new or old, are discussed. The ONLY real issue facing us – the one issue at the core of all the rest – I-N-E-Q-U-A-L-I-T-Y.
INEQUALITY in America and around the world is the basis of all society’s problems and it just keeps getting worse. Effectively address INEQUALITY and every other issue will be addressed effectively.
How many of these Fresh Women and Fresh Men are talking about INEQUALITY and how to address in in Congress? None of them. Of course, if you ask them, they will all answer yes indeed, of course I am very concerned about INEQUALITY. Really? Well prove it!
How can you possibly be concerned by re-electing Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to be the Democratic Party leaders of the House and Senate?. Both of them represent the success of Inequality as masters of the Status Quo.
Inequality of wealth, power, influence, access, justice, etc. just keeps getting worse, and only serious CHANGE will address its toxic results. The lives and future for well over 90 percent of Americans is not going to improve with the ridiculous proposals that pass for a Democratic “agenda” in Congress.
There is NO legitimate reason whatsoever why 1% or less of Americans control almost all the wealth and power in America. That just 1% of Americans have far more wealth and power than the combined wealth and power of well over 50% of the rest of Americans.
How does that work? It does not work well at all. Except to ever more marginalize more and more Americans, worst of all Black and Latino Americans, and all Americans except for this 1%. It is even worse, as an ever more self-fulfilling phenomena – the more power and wealth the 1% get, the more they use it to take even more for themselves. GREED knows no limits!
The ONLY way most Americans will ever get their fair share of wealth and power is by reclaiming it from those who have far more than they deserve.
That requires the kind of Congressional legislation none of the Democrats in Congress are proposing, not the so-called leaders or the eager new Members.
