News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Jan. 13, 2016: A new comparative analysis of the cost of living in New York City compared to other cities in the world shows shockingly that the cost of living in two Caribbean cities is higher than the Big Apple.
According to a ‘America: Cost of Living Index 2017’ by Numbeo, it’s more expensive to live in Hamilton, Bermuda and Nassau, Bahamas than New York City.
The data shows it’s almost 42 percent more expensive to live in Hamilton than New York, excluding rent. In Hamilton, rent according to the analysis, is also higher than NYC by over 13 percent.
While Nassau’s cost of living index came in higher than NYC, it was only just over 3 percent. However, unlike Hamilton, the recent was still relatively low with a rent index of only over 40 percent, meaning its only 40 percent of New York rent.
The Cost of Living Index analysis by Numbeo – excluding rent – is a relative indicator of consumer goods price, including groceries, restaurants, transportation and utilities in a city.
