News Americas, WASHINGTON, D.C., Tues. Feb. 7, 2017: During the U.S. Presidential campaign, some Haitian voters broke ranks with the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton in favor of then candidate Donald Trump. Moïse’s election is almost as controversial as Trump. The Haitian businessman set to take the reins of power today remains at the center of a government money-laundering probe. Moïse has said he foresees forging a personal bond with Trump.

President Trump and I are entrepreneurs, and all an entrepreneur wants is results,” Moïse said in an interview last week with the Reuters news agency. “And therefore I hope we’ll put everything in place to make sure we deliver for our peoples.”
