News Americas, LOS ANGELES, CA, Fri. Dec. 16, 2011: A 19-year-old BVI national has made the finals of the popular reality music show, the X Factor.

Florida-based Melanie Amaro is one of three contestants who were voted into next week’s finals of the show by America.

She joins Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene in the finals next Wednesday. The winner of the show will be crowned next Thursday and take home a $5 million recording contract and a spot in a Pepsi commercial.

Given a brief opportunity to speak last night, Amaro said, “I just want to thank all of my supporters for being there for me and for voting and taking the time out to really put me in this position.” The Plantation High School graduate was praised Wednesday night by judge L.A. Reid as “the greatest female ever to grace this stage.”

She is being mentored by judge, Simon Cowell and actually was saved by the British national and returned to the show after being genitally booted from the top 20.
