News Americas, PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, Sun. April 14, 2013: Trinidad & Tobago’s tourism ministry is optimistic Virgin Atlantic will resume its Tobago, West Indies route for winter 2014.

Virgin Atlantic canned its summer 2014 Tobago flights as of last month from London after seeking one million pounds in marketing support from The Tobago House of Assembly.

But the THA said they were given only four days to respond and by the time they did, the decision was made.

However, speaking to News Americas on Sunday, ahead of the opening on Monday, April 15th of the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Sustainable Tourism Conference, STC-14, in Trinidad, Permanent Secretary in the island’s Ministry of Tourism, Juliana Johan-Boodram, said the cancellation is only in effect for summer 2013 as VA will resume flights next winter.

This summer, UK travelers will have to make do with the twice weekly British Airways flights to Tobago.
