News Americas, New York, NY Friday, Nov. 14, 2014: Its On! Voting started on Monday November 10, 2014 to fill three positions on the Jamaica Diaspora Advisory Board for The Northeast United States (JDNE). Voting is taking place at the Board’s website at and also via paper ballot.
The positions to be filled are for Advisory Board Member, Alternate Advisory Board Member and Future Leader. The objective of the Diaspora Advisory Board is to advise the Minister with responsibility for the Jamaican overseas community on matters relating to that community. Members will interface with community groups with a view to consolidating and advocating interests or concerns.
The positions are voluntary with no financial compensation and each has a term of two years.
The nominees for Advisory Board Member and Alternate Advisory Board Member are Sandra Morrison, Joan Pinnock and Tracy Tomlinson-Dixon. The nominees for Future Leader are Erin Lue-Hing and Scherie Murray. Information on the nominees can also be found on the website.
Voting ends on Monday November 24, 2014 at 4:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Persons wishing to vote must be residents of any of the following states: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington DC. Persons wishing to vote must be of Jamaica heritage.
