News Americas, DHAKA, Bangladesh, Thurs. Nov. 3, 2011: West Indies cricket fans had something to smile about Wednesday as the team grabbed a historic series win over Bangladesh.
It was the Windies’ first away series win in eight years and was largely due to Darren Bravo and leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo. Bravo made a century plus while Bishoo grabbed 5-90 as the West Indies trounced Bangladesh by 229 runs in the second Test in Dhaka.
Bangladesh were earlier set an improbable victory target of 508 runs and were soon out for 278 soon after lunch on the fifth day at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.
The Windies last won an away from home test series in November 2003, when they beat Zimbabwe 1-0. “This feels good,” said Skipper Darren Sammy. “We knew it was going to be difficult, but this was just reward due to the efforts from the guys and the coaching staff. The coach focuses on constant improvements, and we showed that in this series.”
