News Americas, BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, Mon. Mar. 27, 2017: The West Indies cricket team continued its downward spiral Sunday, losing to Pakistan in their opening T20 international series at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown.
The visitors easily won by six-wicket as 18-year old Pakistan legspinner Shadab Khan, enjoying his debut, took three wickets with his first eight balls as the hapless West Indies slumped to 49 for 6.
Skipper Carlos Brathwaite and Kieron Pollard then came together, and managed to inject some momentum in the closing overs, but that only managed to helped the Windies end on a less shameful 111 for 8. Brathwaite ended unbeaten at 34.
Pakistan reached 115 off just 4 wickets to take the match and a 1-0 lead in the series. Khan was named man of the match for his stellar debut performance.
The series now moves to Trinidad & Tobago, where the remaining three matches will be played.
