News Americas, JAMAICA, N.Y. , Sat. Feb. 27, 2016: A U.S. citizen arriving from Jamaica is facing narcotics smuggling charges after being busted with cocaine in her vagina.

Shekira Thompson was busted on February 21st after arriving at John F. Kennedy International Airport from Kingston, Jamaica. After presenting herself for inspection, Thompson was escorted by CBP officers to a private search room where upon further questioning  she admitted to vaginally inserting a foreign body.

The vaginal insert produced a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine.  An approximate weight of 1/2 lb. of cocaine was seized, with an estimated street value of $10,000.

“This seizure is just another example of our CBP officers being ever vigilant in protecting the United States from the distribution of these illicit drugs,” said Robert E. Perez, Director of CBP’s New York Field Operations.

CBP officers placed Thompson under arrest and turned her over to the Port Authority Police Department.  She now faces state narcotics smuggling charges and will be prosecuted by the Queens County District Court.

Vaginally inserting cocaine is another way that one would-be smuggler attempted to transport illegal drugs into the United States.
